VIRGINIA BEACH,Va. - It's that time of year to get your flu shot.

The Virginia Beach Department of Public Health hosted a free drive-thru flu vaccination clinic on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Green Run High School.

Officials say they had 600 doses to give out and ended up distributing 566 of them.

Doctors say while the flu shot has always been important, it's more than ever this year.

"We really want to ensure that people have as much protection as possible as we go into the flu season. We're very concerned about dealing with flu and COVID at the same time," Demetria Lindsay, Director of Virginia Beach and Norfolk departments of public health.

If you haven't gotten your flu shot there's another opportunity next weekend at Military Circle Mall from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

You do not have to be a Norfolk resident to receive the free flu shot.
