Virginia Beach police charge teenager with firearm violations following shooting

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Police responded to a shooting that happened in the 1500 block of Brendle Ct. around 1:40 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Upon arrival, officers found an adult female victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

According to a news release, police investigated and determined that all parties involved reside in the same household.

Officials said that a teenaged juvenile was handling a loaded firearm and he accidentally fired it, striking the victim.

The victim was taken to a local hospital by EMS with life-threatening injuries.

The juvenile was taken into custody and has been charged with reckless handling of a firearm, obstruction of justice, and underage possession of a firearm.
