VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Virginia Beach Police responded to a barricade situation in the 500 block of 19th Street Wednesday evening.
Around 3:27 p.m., dispatchers received a call for a domestic case in the area. Officers arrived on scene and met with the residents of the home.
During the investigation, the man at the center of the incident - who had access to weapons in the house - refused to come out of the home or further communicate with police.
Members of the VBPD SWAT Unit, crisis negotiators and officers from Special Operations responded to the scene to help patrol officers.
The man safely came out of the home at 8:22 p.m. and the situation has been resolved.
The area has reopened to traffic after previously having been closed while police investigated.
This case remains under investigation.
