Virginia coronavirus case numbers rise by 424 in a day

Virginia's coronavirus (COVID-19) cases have risen by 424 in a 24 hour period, according to the Virginia Department of Health.

The number of deaths from the virus has also gone up by five since Monday.

Virginia now has 6,171 COVID-19 cases and 154 deaths reported.

978 people have been hospitalized from the virus and a total of 42,763 poeple have been tested.

The VDH has a map of COVID-19 outbreaks in the Commonwealth and we have a few areas that are highlighted in the long term care facility, congregate setting and correctional facility outbreaks.
