The Virginia Department of Health said Saturday that there are 2,407 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the state, marking an almost 400-case increase from Friday's total of 2,012.

Fifty-two deaths from coronavirus have been reported.

During a press conference Friday, Virginia Governor Ralph Northam said the Hampton Roads Convention Center will serve as an alternative care facility as cases of coronavirus spike in Virginia.

Northam said construction on the convention center, the Dulles Expo Center and the Richmond Convention Center is estimated to take about six weeks, adding that teams are working fast.
