Virginia reports 555 new coronavirus cases, bringing state total to 56,793

The Virginia Department of Health released their daily updated numbers involving coronavirus cases within the state.

According to their website, there are now 56,793 total cases, 54,312 of which are confirmed and 2,481 are probable. There are 1,602 total coronavirus related deaths, with 1,499 being confirmed and 103 being probable. The case numbers are up by 555, and deaths are up by 16 since Thursday.

The Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association also updated their numbers. As of Friday, there are 577 people currently being hospitalized for coronavirus. There are 285 people currently receiving inpatient hospital care whose test results are pending. 251 confirmed positive patients, and those whose test results are pending, are currently hospitalized in the ICU.

121 hospital patients, both confirmed for coronavirus, and those with test results pending, are currently on a ventilator. 585 ventilators are being used in hospitals out of the 2,992 in the state - that's 20% usage.

7,563 patients who have been hospitalized for coronavirus have been discharged. That's 70 more patients discharged from Thursday's count.

  • Chesapeake 709 cases, 105 hospitalized, 16 deaths (+12 cases from Thursday)
  • Accomack 1,022 cases, 67 hospitalized, 14 deaths (+4 cases from Thursday)
  • Northampton 267 cases, 39 hospitalized, 27 deaths (+0 cases from Thursday)
  • Hampton 252 cases, 37 hospitalized, 5 deaths (+1 cases from Thursday)
  • Norfolk 707 cases, 89 hospitalized, 7 deaths (+3 cases from Thursday)
  • James City County 238 cases, 57 hospitalized, 15 deaths (+1 cases from Thursday)
  • Newport News 410 cases, 44 hospitalized, 10 deaths (+8 cases from Thursday)
  • Poquoson 12 cases, 2 hospitalized, 0 deaths (+0 cases from Thursday)
  • Williamsburg 54 cases, 11 hospitalized, 5 deaths (+0 cases from Thursday)
  • York County 97 cases, 10 hospitalized, 3 deaths (+3 cases from Thursday)
  • Portsmouth 405 cases, 60 hospitalized, 13 deaths (+3 cases from Thursday)
  • Gloucester 41 cases, 9 hospitalized, 1 deaths (+1 cases from Thursday)
  • Virginia Beach 950 cases, 112 hospitalized, 27 deaths (+14 cases from Thursday)
