Virginia reports 624 new coronavirus cases, 25 more deaths as United States sees largest daily case increase

The Virginia Department of Health released their daily updated numbers involving coronavirus cases within the state.

According to their website, there are now 60,570 total cases, 57,977 of which are confirmed and 2,593 are probable. There are 1,700 total coronavirus related deaths, with 1,596 being confirmed and 104 being probable. The case numbers are up by 624, and deaths are up by 25 since Thursday.

The Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association also updated their numbers. As of Friday, there are 559 people currently being hospitalized for coronavirus. There are 295 people currently receiving inpatient hospital care whose test results are pending. 219 confirmed positive patients, and those whose test results are pending, are currently hospitalized in the ICU.

99 hospital patients, both confirmed for coronavirus, and those with test results pending, are currently on a ventilator. 571 ventilators are being used in hospitals out of the 3,027 in the state - that's 19% usage.

7,868 patients who have been hospitalized for coronavirus have been discharged.

  • Northampton 269 cases, 39 hospitalized, 28 deaths (+0 cases from Thursday)
  • Hampton 296 cases, 39 hospitalized, 5 deaths (+15 cases from Thursday)
  • Norfolk 822 cases, 97 hospitalized, 8 deaths (+27 cases from Thursday)
  • James City County 251 cases, 58 hospitalized, 15 deaths (+3 cases from Thursday)
  • Newport News 474 cases, 44 hospitalized, 10 deaths (+8 cases from Thursday)
  • Poquoson 17 cases, 2 hospitalized, 0 deaths (+1 case from Thursday)
  • Williamsburg 55 cases, 12 hospitalized, 6 deaths (+0 cases from Thursday)
  • York County 108 cases, 10 hospitalized, 3 deaths (+2 cases from Thursday)
  • Portsmouth 449 cases, 67 hospitalized, 16 deaths (+7 cases from Thursday)
  • Gloucester 47 cases, 9 hospitalized, 1 death (+1 cases from Thursday)
