Virginia reports 813 new coronavirus cases, bringing total to 34,950 ahead of Memorial Day weekend

The Virginia Department of Health released their daily updated numbers involving coronavirus cases within the state.

According to their website, there are now 34,950 total cases, 33,208 of which are confirmed and 1,742 are probable. There are 1,136 total coronavirus related deaths, with 1,100 being confirmed and 36 being probable. The case numbers are up by 813, and deaths are up by 37 since Thursday.

A total of 223,433 people in Virginia have now been tested.

The Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association also updated their numbers. As of Friday, there are 995 people currently being hospitalized for coronavirus. There are 464 people currently receiving inpatient hospital care whose test results are pending. 366 confirmed positive patients, and those whose test results are pending, are currently hospitalized in the ICU.

207 hospital patients, both confirmed for coronavirus, and those with test results pending, are currently on a ventilator. 636 ventilators are being used in hospitals out of the 2,959 in the state - that's 21% usage.

4,963 patients who have been hospitalized for coronavirus have been discharged.

  • Norfolk 388 cases, 59 hospitalized, 6 deaths
  • James City County 191 cases, 55 hospitalized, 16 deaths
  • Newport News 224 cases, 38 hospitalized, 10 deaths
  • Poquoson 7 cases, 2 hospitalized, 0 deaths
  • Williamsburg 43 cases, 9 hospitalized, 3 deaths
  • York County 67 cases, 9 hospitalized, 3 deaths
  • Portsmouth 251 cases, 40 hospitalized, 11 deaths
  • Gloucester 30 cases, 7 hospitalized, 1 death
  • Virginia Beach 591 cases, 90 hospitalized, 19 deaths
  • Franklin City 34 cases, 2 hospitalized, 1 death
