Virginia reports 865 new coronavirus cases, 7 deaths

The Virginia Department of Health released their daily updated numbers involving coronavirus cases within the state.

According to their website, there are now 49,397 total cases, 47,213 of which are confirmed and 2,274 are probable. There are 1,460 total coronavirus related deaths, with 1,357 being confirmed and 103 being probable. The case numbers are up by 865, and deaths are up by 7 since Friday.

A total of 368,857 people in Virginia have now been tested.

The Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association also updated their numbers. As of Saturday, there are 831 people currently being hospitalized for coronavirus. There are 350 people currently receiving inpatient hospital care whose test results are pending. 324 confirmed positive patients, and those whose test results are pending, are currently hospitalized in the ICU.

169 hospital patients, both confirmed for coronavirus, and those with test results pending, are currently on a ventilator. 609 ventilators are being used in hospitals out of the 2,959 in the state - that's 21% usage.

6,382 patients who have been hospitalized for coronavirus have been discharged.

  • Norfolk 562 cases, 71 hospitalized, 7 deaths
  • James City County 211 cases, 54 hospitalized, 15 deaths
  • Newport News 314 cases, 41 hospitalized, 10 deaths
  • Poquoson 8 cases, 2 hospitalized, 0 deaths
  • Williamsburg 45 cases, 11 hospitalized, 5 deaths
  • York County 82 cases, 10 hospitalized, 3 deaths
  • Portsmouth 335 cases, 47 hospitalized, 11 deaths
  • Gloucester 32 cases, 8 hospitalized, 1 death
  • Virginia Beach 798 cases, 102 hospitalized, 25 deaths
