Virginia reports lowest increase of cases since late April, 21 additional deaths

The Virginia Department of Health released their daily updated numbers involving coronavirus cases within the state.

According to their website, there are now 46,905 total cases, 44,715 of which are confirmed and 2,190 are probable. There are 1,428 total coronavirus related deaths, with 1,322 being confirmed and 106 being probable. The case numbers are up by 666, and deaths are up by 21 since Tuesday.

A total of 381,539 people in Virginia have now been tested.

The Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association also updated their numbers. As of Wednesday, there are 1,311 people currently being hospitalized for coronavirus. There are 876 people currently receiving inpatient hospital care whose test results are pending. 313 confirmed positive patients, and those whose test results are pending, are currently hospitalized in the ICU.

185 hospital patients, both confirmed for coronavirus, and those with test results pending, are currently on a ventilator. 613 ventilators are being used in hospitals out of the 2,984 in the state - that's 21% usage.

6,165 patients who have been hospitalized for coronavirus have been discharged.

  • Chesapeake 548 cases, 90 hospitalized, 15 deaths
  • Accomack 953 cases, 52 hospitalized, 12 deaths
  • Northampton 245 cases, 28 hospitalized, 23 deaths
  • Hampton 212 cases, 30 hospitalized, 3 deaths
  • Norfolk 539 cases, 70 hospitalized, 6 deaths
  • James City County 211 cases, 54 hospitalized, 15 deaths
  • Newport News 292 cases, 41 hospitalized, 10 deaths
  • Poquoson 8 cases, 2 hospitalized, 0 deaths
  • Williamsburg 45 cases, 10 hospitalized, 4 deaths
  • York County 77 cases, 10 hospitalized, 3 deaths
  • Portsmouth 322 cases, 47 hospitalized, 11 deaths
  • Gloucester 31 cases, 8 hospitalized, 1 death
  • Virginia Beach 752 cases, 97 hospitalized, 23 deaths
