Virginia reports rise of 772 total coronavirus cases, 43 deaths

The Virginia Department of Health released their daily updated numbers involving coronavirus cases within the state.

According to their website, there are now 22,342 total cases, 21,274 of which are confirmed and 1,068 are probable. There are 812 total coronavirus related deaths, with 787 being confirmed and 25 being probable. The case numbers are up by 772 and deaths are up by 43 since Thursday.

A total of 143,220 people in Virginia have now been tested.

The Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association also updated their numbers. As of Friday, there are 1,076 people currently being hospitalized for coronavirus. There are 549 people currently receiving inpatient hospital care whose test results are pending. 378 confirmed positive patients, and those whose test results are pending, are currently hospitalized in the ICU.

199 hospital patients, both confirmed for coronavirus, and those with test results pending, are currently on a ventilator. 591 ventilators are being used in hospitals out of the 2,935 in the state - that's 20% usage.

2,997 patients who have been hospitalized for coronavirus have been discharged.

  • Accomack 463 cases, 68 hospitalized, 9 deaths
  • Northampton 149 cases, 9 hospitalized, 5 deaths
  • Hampton 135 cases, 28 hospitalized, 3 deaths
  • Norfolk 274 cases, 50 hospitalized, 5 deaths
  • James City County 170 cases, 52 hospitalized, 15 deaths
  • Newport News 144 cases, 35 hospitalized, 10 deaths
  • Poquoson 7 cases, 2 hospitalized, 0 deaths
  • Williamsburg 31 cases, 8 hospitalized, 2 deaths
  • York County 55 cases, 8 hospitalized, 2 deaths
  • Portsmouth 194 cases, 37 hospitalized, 8 deaths
  • Gloucester 27 cases, 7 hospitalized, 1 death
  • Virginia Beach 469 cases, 84 hospitalized, 17 deaths
  • Franklin City 23 cases, 2 hospitalized, 1 death
  • Isle of Wight 105 cases, 10 hospitalized, 3 deaths
