Virginia reports rise of 885 coronavirus cases, bringing total to 24,081 in Commonwealth

The Virginia Department of Health released their daily updated numbers involving coronavirus cases within the state.

According to their website, there are now 24,081 total cases, 22,962 of which are confirmed and 1,119 are probable. There are 839 total coronavirus related deaths, with 813 being confirmed and 26 being probable. The case numbers are up by 885, and deaths are up by 12 since Saturday.

A total of 157,957 people in Virginia have now been tested.

The Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association also updated their numbers. As of Sunday, there are 1,049 people currently being hospitalized for coronavirus. There are 506 people currently receiving inpatient hospital care whose test results are pending. 351 confirmed positive patients, and those whose test results are pending, are currently hospitalized in the ICU.

187 hospital patients, both confirmed for coronavirus, and those with test results pending, are currently on a ventilator. 600 ventilators are being used in hospitals out of the 2,874 in the state - that's 21% usage.

3,201 patients who have been hospitalized for coronavirus have been discharged.

  • James City County 173 cases, 52 hospitalized, 15 deaths
  • Newport News 159 cases, 36 hospitalized, 10 deaths
  • Poquoson 7 cases, 2 hospitalized, 0 deaths
  • Williamsburg 39 cases, 8 hospitalized, 2 deaths
  • York County 56 cases, 8 hospitalized, 2 deaths
  • Portsmouth 202 cases, 38 hospitalized, 8 deaths
  • Gloucester 27 cases, 7 hospitalized, 1 death
  • Virginia Beach 491 cases, 85 hospitalized, 17 deaths
