Virginia sees 1,615 new coronavirus cases as Accomack, Virginia Beach continue to lead region in case count

The Virginia Department of Health released their daily updated numbers involving coronavirus cases within the state.

According to their website, there are now 39,342 total cases, 37,440 of which are confirmed and 1,902 are probable. There are 1,236 total coronavirus related deaths, with 1,175 being confirmed and 61 being probable. The case numbers are up by 1,615, and deaths are up by 28 since Monday.

The Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association also updated their numbers. As of Tuesday, there are 1,403 people currently being hospitalized for coronavirus. There are 412 people currently receiving inpatient hospital care whose test results are pending. 366 confirmed positive patients, and those whose test results are pending, are currently hospitalized in the ICU.

190 hospital patients, both confirmed for coronavirus, and those with test results pending, are currently on a ventilator. 619 ventilators are being used in hospitals out of the 2,954 in the state - that's 21% usage.

5,227 patients who have been hospitalized for coronavirus have been discharged.

  • Accomack 758 cases, 42 hospitalized, 11 deaths
  • Northampton 221 cases, 21 hospitalized, 17 deaths
  • Hampton 183 cases, 30 hospitalized, 3 deaths
  • Norfolk 450 cases, 61 hospitalized, 6 deaths
  • James City County 200 cases, 55 hospitalized, 16 deaths
  • Newport News 250 cases, 38 hospitalized, 10 deaths
  • Poquoson 7 cases, 2 hospitalized, 0 deaths
  • Williamsburg 43 cases, 9 hospitalized, 3 deaths
  • York County 71 cases, 9 hospitalized, 3 deaths
  • Portsmouth 281 cases, 41 hospitalized, 11 deaths
  • Gloucester 30 cases, 7 hospitalized, 1 death
  • Virginia Beach 638 cases, 90 hospitalized, 23 deaths
  • Franklin City 39 cases, 2 hospitalized, 1 death
  • Isle of Wight 125 cases, 11 hospitalized, 3 deaths
  • Southampton 143 cases, 5 hospitalized, 2 deaths
