ACCOMACK Co., Va. - A man was killed in a two-vehicle crash on the Eastern Shore Thursday night, according to the Virginia State Police.

According to police, at approximately 10:22 p.m., officers were called to Route 13 at Davis Road in the New Church area of Accomack County for a crash.

When officers arrived, they learned that the driver of a pickup truck was driving west on Davis Road when he failed to stop at the stop sign that intersects Davis Road at Route 13. When he drove through the stop sign, he struck the rear of a tractor-trailer traveling north on Route 13.

The pickup truck was pushed onto its side, ejecting the front seat passenger, 20-year-old John B. Shertenlieb III. Shertenlieb was later pronounced dead at the scene.

The pickup truck's driver, Ethan Hart, and the tractor-trailer's driver, Thomas Pusey, were both taken to PMRC Hospital in Salisbury, Maryland for treatment.

At this time it is not clear if alcohol was a contributing factor, according to police.
