FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. - Virginia State Police is investigating a fatal crash in Fairfax County that happened Thursday around 1:45 a.m.
The crash happened on I-95 at the 165 mile marker, when a GMC Terrain rear-ended a tractor-trailer sitting on the southbound right shoulder.
The driver of the GMC, Nathaniel Thurman, 50, of Norfolk, Va., died at the scene.
The driver of the tractor-trailer, Anthony D. Stewart, 48, of Blackstone, Va., was not injured.
The Virginia State Police Crash Reconstruction Team and Virginia State Police Motor Carrier Safety Team both responded to assist with the ongoing crash investigation.
