NORTHUMBERLAND Co., Va. - The Virginia State Police is investigating after a Virginia Beach woman was killed in a crash in Northumberland County Tuesday night.

At 6:48 p.m., police responded to a single-vehicle crash on Route 615 (Carlson Road), a half-mile west of Route 200 (Jessie Dupont Memorial Highway).

According to police, a 2002 Nissan Xterra was traveling west on Route 615 when it ran off the right side of the road, overcorrected, crossed the centerline and then ran off the right side of the road a second time.

It then struck a mailbox, ran off the left side of the road, went into a ditch and overturned.

The driver, 26-year-old Virginia Beach woman Heaven K. Mcquillen, was transported to Rappahannock General Hospital where she died from her injuries. She was not wearing a seatbelt.
