WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - William & Mary announced Saturday that a staff member has tested positive for COVID-19.

According to the statement released by the university, this is the first and only case of the virus.

The Virginia Department of Health is contacting those who may have been in close contact with the person to self-quarantine.

Virginia Department of Health says if you do not receive a call to self-quarantine then you should just continue to practice proper preventive hygiene measures.

The university says they are in contact with VDH and are closely following their recommendations. William & Mary advises others to remember that amidst this serious pandemic, the vast majority of affected individuals will develop only mild to moderate symptoms.

The campus moved to online classes earlier in the week amid the growing coronavirus concerns.
