SUFFOLK, Va. - Suffolk Fire & Rescue crews responded to a fire in the 5000 block of Bay Circle that began shortly before 1:00 a.m. Sunday morning.

SFR crews were contacted at 12:53 a.m., and the first unit arrived on scene in the Holly Acres neighborhood at 1:04 a.m.

According to SFR, crews found heavy smoke and flames showing from a two-story home. The home's occupants had already evacuated.

A woman received emergency medical assessment and treatment at the scene and was taken to a local hospital for further treatment. Three firefighters also sustained injuries due to a wall collapse and were taken to a local hospital. All four have since been treated and released.

The fire was called under control at 3:05 a.m. Four out of five of the family's pets have been located, but a cat is still missing.

Two adults will be displaced. The Fire Marshal’s Office will be investigating the cause of the fire, but says it appears to be related to a chimney fire.
