Woman displaced following Portsmouth house fire in Churchland area

PORTSMOUTH, Va. - Portsmouth Fire is investigating the cause of a house fire that took place in the Churchland area on Wednesday.

Shortly after 2 p.m., crews responded to a house fire in the 5000 Block of N. Greenfield Drive.

No one was home at the time of the the fire.

The home was occupied by a woman who is now receiving assistance from the Red Cross due to the fire damage.

The fire cause is currently under investigation through the Fire Marshal's Office.

Additionally, as the fire on Greenfield was being controlled, another fire was reported in Pollux Circle on the other side of the City.

Crews responded and quickly extinguished that fire, containing it to a detached garage. No injuries or significant issues were reported at that scene.
