CHESAPEAKE, Va. - A woman was injured in a house fire early Wednesday morning, the Chesapeake Police Department said.
According to firefighters, crews were called to Park Avenue in South Norfolk at 12:48 a.m. for the fire. When crews arrived on scene nine minutes later, they found a home engulfed in flames.
The fire was declared under control almost an hour later, at 1:47 a.m.
The woman was taken to the emergency room with burn injuries, firefighters said. A pet cat was also found dead at the scene.
The fire's cause is under investigation, and this is a developing story.
