Woman seriously injured in Suffolk crash involving a train

SUFFOLK, Va. - A woman is in critical condition after a crash involving a train Saturday evening.

Suffolk Police and Suffolk Fire & Rescue are currently on the scene of a crash involving a train and a vehicle at the intersection of North Capital Street and Railroad Avenue.

Officials received a call about the crash at 10:29 p.m.

Police say the driver was taken to a hospital with serious injuries after being extricated from the vehicle. The driver was still in the hospital as of Sunday night and officials said the driver was the only occupant in the vehicle that was involved in the crash.

The area was closed for an investigation.

The crash remains under investigation and no additional information is available for release at this time.
