CHESAPEAKE, Va. - Chesapeake Police are searching for the man they say shot a woman multiple times early Friday evening.
At 5:42 p.m., officers responded to a shooting that happened in the 100 block of Gainsborough Square. When they arrived on scene, they found a woman who had been shot several times.
Police say the suspect, who is described as a black male with short hair and was last seen wearing a blue mask; a green shirt with a traffic vest and blue jeans, took off on foot towards Chesapeake Regional Medical Center.
Officers set up a perimeter around the area and notified the hospital, which went into lockdown out of an abundance of caution. The hospital lifted the lockdown after the search of the area.
The suspect was not found.
The woman was taken to a local hospital with possible life-threatening injuries.
This incident is currently under investigation.
