NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Police are investigating after a woman was shot while in a home Sunday night.
Around 8:15 p.m., Newport News police responded to a gunshot victim in the 3400 block of Wickham Avenue.
Officers found an adult female inside a residence suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers said they performed first aid until medics arrived.
She was taken to a local hospital with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening, according to police.
A preliminary investigation revealed the victim was inside the residence when someone fired shots outside, and she was struck.
No suspect information is available at this time, and the investigation remains ongoing.
