NORFOLK, Va. - Virginia State Police are investigating after the driver of a vehicle went the wrong way in the reversible HOV lanes of I-64 Friday night.
Authorities were notified about the wrong-way driver in the reversible HOV lanes around 8:42 p.m. The driver was reportedly traveling westbound while the lanes were open to eastbound traffic.
According to police, the driver was going about 15 to 20 mph when a state police supervisor met him head-on, forcing him to a stop. Once stopped, the driver, a 67-year-old Virginia Beach man, was found to be unresponsive due to some form of medical condition
The man was taken to the hospital. Two other vehicles were struck by his, but the occupants were uninjured, as was the state police supervisor.
