Yeti is recalling their new Rambler 20 oz Travel Mug with Stronghold Lid that is sold in a variety of colors.

The company reports the recall is due to the magnet slider on the lid that can eject and cause hot contents to spill out, possibly injuring or burning someone.

The recall only involves travel mugs with the date code 34204010 which can be found on the bottom of the travel mug base. This batch was sold at 8 stores and online from October 1 to October 9. The company says only 15,000 mugs were sold.

This recall does not include their traditional magnetic lids found in the vast majority of their existing drink ware.

YETI released an official statement on the recall:

“We are issuing a voluntary product recall of the Rambler® 20 oz Travel Mug with Stronghold Lid after learning the lid’s MagSlider™ and mug contents can be expelled if the mug is filled with hot liquid, sealed with the lid, and shaken, which poses an injury hazard.

The product was available for purchase through yeti.com from October 1, 2020 through October 9, 2020 and about 15,000 units were sold. No injuries have been reported.

We ask that all customers currently in possession of the 20 oz. Travel Mug with Stronghold Lid immediately cease use of the product and follow the recall instructions for a full refund. More information can be found here..”

Consumers should immediately stop using the product and click here for instructions on returning the lid or at a YETI store for a full refund.

YETI says they have received two reports on issues with the magnetic slider, but no injuries have been reported.
