York-Poquoson Sheriff's Office responds to reported water rescue

YORK Co., Va. - The York-Poquoson Sheriff's Office and York County Fire and Life Safety responded to a reported water rescue at the Harwood's Mill Reservoir in Grafton Sunday morning.

According to a release by the sheriff's office, a call came in at 4:30 a.m. for a possible person in the water. Officers responded to Oriana Road along with Newport News park rangers to search for the person.

A complete coordinated search of the reservoir occurred including on the ground, on the water and along the shoreline. Additionally, the reservoir was searched by drones operated by the York County Department of Fire and Life Safety and the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office.

Officials are still on scene. Despite numerous emergency vehicles operating in the area and along the shoreline of the reservoir, no witness or caller has yet to come forward.
