GLOUCESTER, Va. - Gloucester County Sheriff's Office are investigating the theft of four vehicles that resulted in a police chase and crash Wednesday.

Deputies say four vehicles were stolen from Gloucester-Auto Max. Two of the four cars reported stolen, were recovered Wednesday morning.

One of the stolen vehicles was involved in a crash at Gloucester Point Wednesday morning, according to police.

The other recovered vehicle was identified by GCSO Patrol Units, during that crash investigation.

Patrol units then initiated a vehicle pursuit into York County.

The York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office took control of the pursuit, which later resulted in a crash on Route 17 at the foot of the Coleman Bridge.

The Gloucester Sheriff's Office has one person in custody, and the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office has another person in custody.

Police say while traffic is still backed up on Route 17 at Gloucester Point, the traffic crash has been cleared, and both southbound lanes are open.

Detectives say they are investigating the vehicle thefts and charges are expected.
