Two new playgrounds, fitness center come to Norfolk featuring slides, swings, climbing structures

NORFOLK, Va. - Two new playgrounds and fitness center are opening in the Norfolk area.

Norfolk Parks & Recreation have announced the opening of the two playgrounds.

Ribbon cutting ceremonies will take place at Tanners Creek Playground on June 9 at 1335 Longdale Drive and Ballentine Park Playground & Fitness Area on June 23 at 2415 Ballentine Boulevard.

Remarks will begin at 4:30 p.m. at each location.

The new Tanners Creek Playground replaces the existing play area.

The Ballentine Park Playground & Fitness Area was created based on input and collaboration with the Department of Parks & Recreation and Norfolk residents.

Both new playgrounds feature swings, slides, and climbing structures.
