CHARLOTTE, N.C. ( – The Old Dominion (22-4, 12-2 C-USA) women's basketball team had its 11 game win streak snapped by Charlotte (18-7, 9-5 C-USA) on the road by a 63-59 final score. The game was close throughout, but the 49ers nine field goals in the third quarter was enough to propel them ahead through the finish.

"I thought our kids battled. A resilient group. We're turning a page," said head coach Nikki McCray. "We talked about rebounding and taking care of the ball. Those are two areas we didn't do well. They were beating us on the boards and that's what won the game."

At the end of the first, ODU led the game, 16-13. The 49ers took the momentum from the final two minutes of the first frame into the second quarter, outscoring ODU, 16-15. The Monarchs responded in the fourth with a 6-2 run to open the quarter and get within one possession of the 49ers with 4:48 on the clock.
