KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Derrick Nnadi received a lot of praise this past week after sponsoring the adoptions of every dog who was at Kansas City Pet Project before Super Bowl 54.

On Saturday, Nnadi visited KC Pet Project for the first time since sponsoring the animals and presented the shelter with a check for more than $18,000, the cost of the adoption fee for the 109 dogs who were available for adoption before the Super Bowl.

During the event Nnadi got the chance to meet the families who have adopted dogs he's sponsored not only ahead of the Super Bowl, but also throughout the 2019 NFL season.

"One thing that really had me happy was seeing all those empty dog beds, all those empty rooms, that was amazing," Nnadi said after seeing that most of the dogs were adopted.

"Personally, I'm a dog man myself. I've always loved dogs. Dogs have always been my thing ever since I was a little kid. I would always try to help out my friends when they had a dog."
