LOS ANGELES, Calif. (AP) - Micah Kiser, the former Virginia football standout, has been voted the NFC Defensive Player of the Week following week two action.

Kiser, a linebacker for the Los Angeles Rams, leads the NFL in solo tackles.

The fifth round selection in the 2018 NFL Draft missed all of last season with a torn pectoral muscle. In 2018, as a rookie, he appeared in every game for the Rams - including Super Bowl LIII.

In 2020, he's started each of LA's first two games, recording 23 tackles - including his NFL-leading 17 of the solo variety. Entering the 2020 season, Kiser had only registered four career tackles.

He left UVA as a three-time first-team All-ACC honoree and a first-team All-American (Sporting News) in 2017 after leading Kiser the Atlantic Coast Conference in tackles in 2015, 2016 and 2017.

Kiser is just the second player in league history to lead the conference in tackles for three straight seasons.
