MEAC esports league to stream on Facebook Gaming

NORFOLK, Va., Aug, 6, 2020 – The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Esports League, and the Esports Women’s League, has announced it will broadcast esports content to Facebook Gaming. Weekly featured games and tournaments will be broadcast using Facebook Gaming, which currently has 200 million gamers monthly.

Gamers and fans will be able to use fb.gg, Facebook Liveand Instagram TV to view competitions.

"We are excited at the potential for the potential global exposure available on Facebook Gaming,” Sonja Stills, MEAC Senior Associate Commissioner and MEAC Esports Director, said. “The association also allows any students, alumni and fans of the MEAC to gain access and add multiple revenue stream opportunities as Facebook Gaming's "Level Up" Content Creators.

Additionally, it is critically important during these times that the MEAC’s current and future corporate partners are given even more opportunities for sustainable long-term return on investment, digital investment advertising and product placements.

Registration for both the MEAC Esports League and Esports Women’s League is currently open and includes access to five games, NBA2K20, FIFA 20, Madden NFL, Rocket League and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, with players able to select up to three games concurrently.

The first eseries will run from Aug. 10-Sept. 14. Registration for either league is $40 and will cover all of fall 2020.

In order to facilitate the online competition, the MEAC and Blaze Fire Games have selected GYO Score as their technology and league management platform partner. Through GYO Score, students will be able to participate in regularly-scheduled matches and directly challenge each other in ladder-style competitions that will promote a fun and competitive atmosphere.
