NORFOLK, Va. (ODUSports.com) – Conference USA released the Old Dominion men’s basketball league play schedule on Tuesday afternoon. The Monarchs will play a total of 18 C-USA games, with nine of those contests taking place at Chartway Arena. The Monarchs will play Western Kentucky, Marshall, Charlotte, FIU and Florida Atlantic twice. The other home conference opponents include LA Tech, Southern Miss, North Texas and Rice.

Conference USA made tweaks to the league schedule based on recommendations from the C-USA Future Planning Committee, which was chaired by ODU Director of Athletics, Dr. Wood Selig. The upcoming 2021 Conference USA Tournament in Frisco, Texas will feature the top eight teams.

Old Dominion will tip off league play at home on the last day of 2020 (Dec. 31) against the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers, before hosting the Marshall Thundering Herd on Jan. 2.

ODU will be on the road for three consecutive games against the UAB Blazers (Jan. 7), the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders (Jan. 9) and the Charlotte 49ers (Jan. 16).

The Monarchs will then return home to square-off against the FIU Panthers on Jan. 21 and the Owls of Florida Atlantic on Jan. 23.

On Jan. 28, ODU will make its longest road trip of the season, when the Monarchs take on the UTEP Miners in El Paso, Texas. Two days later on Jan. 30, Old Dominion will face off against the Roadrunners of UTSA in San Antonio.

The following week, ODU will welcome the LA Tech Bulldogs (Feb. 4) and the Southern Miss Golden Eagles (Feb. 6) to Chartway Arena.

On Feb. 11, Old Dominion will travel down to Boca Raton to battle Florida Atlantic, before a showdown at FIU on Feb. 13 in Miami, Fla.

The Monarchs longest home stand of the season will begin on Feb. 18 against the Mean Green of North Texas, which will feature a matchup of the last two C-USA regular season champions. On Feb. 20, ODU is set for a tilt against the Rice Owls. The final regular season home game for Old Dominion will be on Feb. 27 against Charlotte.

The conclusion of the 2020-21 regular season takes place at Marshall on March 4 and at Western Kentucky on March 6.

Including the non-conference schedule ODU will have a total of 15 home regular season games.
