Old Dominion basketball teams prepare for Conference USA basketball tournament

NORFOLK, Va. - The Old Dominion men's and women's basketball teams prepare to begin conference tournament play this week.

ODU men's basketball received the No. 8 seed and will take on No. 9 seeded Florida Atlantic on Wednesday, March 11 at 7:00 p.m. ET in the First Round of the 2020 Air Force Reserve Conference USA Basketball Championships.

The Monarchs won a pair of regular season meetings between against FAU in Norfolk this year. A.J. Oliver II scored 21 points to lead ODU to a 65-55 win on January 25 and Malik Curry poured in 29 during an 85-80 overtime triumph on March 1. Jailyn Ingram led FAU in both outings, with 16 and 19 points, respectively.

In Thursday's quarterfinal round, No. 1 seed North Texas will take on the winner of the Old Dominion-Florida Atlantic game at 7:00 p.m. ET.

The No. 2 seeded Old Dominion women's basketball team (24-6, 14-4 C-USA) will take on the winner of No. 7 seed UTEP/No. 10 seed Florida Atlantic in the 2020 Air Force Reserve C-USA Women's Basketball Quarterfinals on Thursday, March 12 at 2:30 p.m. ET.

ODU played for the C-USA Regular Season Championship and the No. 1 seed on Saturday afternoon but fell to Rice, 73-70 on the road.

The men's and women's teams both play at The Star in Frisco Texas.
