PORTSMOUTH, Va. - The Portsmouth Invitational Tournament has announced the passing of one of its founding members, Chairman Mahlon Parker.
"It is with great sadness today we must announce the passing of one of our own. Mr. Mahlon Parker, Chairman of the PIT since it’s inception, passed away this morning in his home," The Portsmouth Invitational Tournament shared on social media. "Words cannot describe how much Mr. Parker meant to the PIT, the city of Portsmouth and the game of basketball itself.
"He is remembered as not only a founding member of the PIT but a great man, husband, and mentor. His legacy remains in the vision he had for the game and the great lengths he went to see the vision carried out. In light of the current situation at hand, funeral details will be forthcoming and we will update information on those arrangements when we receive them."
