HAMPTON, Va. - A man has been arrested after a shooting that left two people injured on Tuesday.
At around 10:56 p.m., officials received a call in reference to a shooting that had just taken place in the first block of Preakness Lane.
Officers say they arrived on scene and located a 21-year-old female victim who had been struck by gunfire. She was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
While officers were investigating, a second victim was said to have walked into a local hospital with a gunshot injury. That victim, a 22-year-old man, was transferred to another local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Officers determined that several subjects were involved in an argument that resulted in an exchange of gunfire.
Wednesday night, police announced that 22-year-old Keshun Rontel Amstutz of Newport News has been arrested in reference to this incident.
Amstutz was arrested after being released from a local hospital were he was being treated for injuries he sustained during this incident. He has been charged with one count Maiming, one count of Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony, two counts of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, two counts of Shooting into an Occupied Vehicle and one count of Threatening Bodily Harm.
Amstutz remains in custody at the Hampton City Jail. No mugshot of Amstutz is available at this time.
