First Warning Forecast: Heat Advisory in effect Sunday

KJ's First Warning Forecast

A Heat Advisory is in effect today from noon until 9 PM for the entire area. Mid 90s this afternoon with a southwest wind of 5-10 mph. Expect partly sunny skies with an isolated shower or storm this afternoon. A slightly higher chance for rain and storms later into the early evening hours.

An Excessive Heat Warning has been issued until 9 p.m., for Norfolk/Portsmouth, Suffolk, Chesapeake, Virginia Beach, York, Newport News, Hampton/Poquoson, Gates, Pasquotank, Camden, Western Currituck, Chowan, Perquimans due to dangerously hot conditions Sunday afternoon.

Heat Advisory remains in effect until 9 p.m. for all other counties.

Triple-digit heat will top the charts again Monday and Tuesday with heat index values between 105 to 110. Take extra steps to stay cool, hydrated and limit exposure and exertion during the max heating of the day.

Relief is coming by the end of the week ahead with highs trending downward. Upper 80s are seasonal highs for this time of year and that's where we're headed Friday and Saturday.

Meanwhile, a few widely scattered showers before sunset with additional shower/storm chances each day this week.
