Meteorologist Myles Henderson’s First Warning Forecast

Extreme heat to start the week… High temperatures will reach the upper 90s today, 10+ degrees above normal for this time of year. Humidity will be high, pushing the afternoon heat index to near 110. We will see a mix of mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies today. A scattered shower/storm will “pop up” this afternoon but rain will not be widespread.

The extreme heat and humidity return tomorrow. Afternoon heat index values will reach 105 to 110. Scattered showers and storms will develop again tomorrow afternoon to evening.

Rain and storm chances will increase for the second half of the week as a cold front moves in and stalls out. Expect a mix of partly to mostly cloudy skies with scattered showers and storms. High temperatures will slide to the lows 90s and upper 80s for the end of the week.

Tropical Update
We are tracking a broad area of low pressure located a little more than 1000 miles east of the Windward Islands. Environmental conditions are expected to become more favorable for development in a day or two. A tropical depression or tropical storm will likely form within the next couple of days. The system is forecast to move west to WNW at 15 to 20 mph and could begin to affect portions of the Lesser Antilles on Wednesday.
