Saturday will feature a mix of sun and clouds with a good chance of slow-moving afternoon storms. Isolated storm chances early with better chances of showers and storms during the afternoon. Expect highs near 88 with a few areas becoming slightly warmer.

Rain chances will drop for Sunday (25%) with more sunshine and dry time. That's the better day for outdoor plans, like mowing your lawn and cleaning up after the tropical storm. Highs will remain in the upper 80 to near 90 throughout the weekend with afternoon heat index values in the mid 90s.

August is historically our wettest month of the year, and it has lived up to its reputation so far. In a typical August we get more than 5 1/2 inches of rain. At Norfolk International -- our official reporting station -- we've already received more than 2 1/2 inches, with three weeks left in the month. Any additional rainfall this weekend will add to the total.

Both temperatures and rain chances are on the rise next week.
