First Warning Forecast: Severe storm threat not over... damaging winds and tornado possible this afternoon

First Warning Forecast:

***Tornado Watch for Accomack County on the Eastern Shore until 7 PM this evening.

*** Coastal Flood Advisory for the Outer Banks and along the Albemarle Sound. Strong S/SW winds will trigger some sound-side flooding today.

*** Wind Advisory for all of NE NC, the Eastern Shore, and parts of the Southside. Winds could gust to near 40 mph today.

A severe threat and a big cool down… Scattered showers and storms will continue midday to the afternoon. Showers will taper off late this afternoon to evening. Severe thunderstorms are possible today with damaging wind gusts and isolated tornadoes possible. Highs will warm to the low and mid 70s today. It will be windy all day with south to SW winds 15 to 25 and gusts to near 40 mph.

Brace yourself for a major cool down tomorrow. Highs will only reach the upper 40s, about 25 degrees cooler than today. We will see a mix of sun and clouds. It will still be windy with west winds at 10 to 20 with gusts to near 30 mph.

Expect mostly sunny skies with highs near 50 on Wednesday. It will still be breezy with west winds at 10-15 mph. Sunshine will continue for Thursday with highs in the mid 50s and lighter winds. Showers will return for the end of the week.
