First Warning Forecast:
Widespread steady to heavy rain with gusty winds...

The best coverage of rain today will occur around the noon hour... Intensity will ramp up with heavier showers and wind gusts of 25 to 30 mph this afternoon.

The massive storm system is on track to consume the mid-Atlantic and northeast with rain and snow. It's going to be a rain event for us here in Hampton Roads. Isolated mixing is possible near Interstate 95 during the early morning hours, but the window for frozen precipitation will close by daybreak for our area. However, 1 to 2 inches of rain is expected for us. Ahead of the system, coastal flooding is possible along the immediate coast. A level one severe weather risk for parts of northeast North Carolina along the Outer Banks for one or two strong to severe storms.

Several sunny and much cooler days are on tap for the rest of the week. Mornings will start near freezing and highs in the mid 40s.
