HAMPTON, Va. - A Bojangles food truck is providing free meals for those in need!

The food truck is at Hampton Baptist Church on Kings Way in Hampton. The owner of the Bojangles restaurant on Commander Shepherd Boulevard is donating all of the food for the event.

Organizers say the truck is usually at the shipyard in Newport News on Mondays, but right now the shipyard is closed.

Members of Hampton Baptist Church tell News 3 that the church usually provides a hot cooked meal every Monday through the 'so all may eat' program. Organizers say some guests are homeless, low income, or downtown residents who have no cars.

Volunteers with the program say there have been changes with how the food is now being served due to the coronavirus outbreak, but they will continue to provide for the community.

Hampton Baptist Church member Dawn Gerbing says that, “we’re protecting ourselves because most of us are seniors. So, we’re wearing masks, we’re wearing gloves. But, we also want to make sure we’re protecting our guests and keeping them as safe as possible. We are no longer gathering inside but distributing meals out in the parking lot.”

Church members say every Monday the program feeds people who are in need and they will continue to serve throughout the coronavirus pandemic.
