A few tiny bunnies bounced around in a new clean cage.  They were rescued from filthy and deadly conditions in a Virginia Beach home Thursday.

John Doub rescues humans as a paramedic and he also rescues rabbits through his company Virginia Rabbit, Inc.

When Virginia Beach Animal Control was overwhelmed with nearly 80 rabbits, they called John for help.

“Probably have some of these bunnies in a year because we`re not a fast-paced organization. We try to adopt them to forever homes,” says John

John has taken a huge burden off of animal control.  He has a soft spot for rabbits and he promises to keep them safe and well-fed until someone is ready to take them home.

“We`re not in a hurry. We take someone like this and want to make sure that this guy goes to a very good home,” says John.

I’m here at animal control where about four rabbits have been adopted.  None of the females can be adopted yet because they are all pregnant and will have to be sterilized.
