Report: Veterans Affairs wait-time numbers skewed

Posted

A new study says Veterans Affairs isn't helping troops as quickly as they would like you to believe--specifically help with mental health services.

The VA would have you believe vets are evaluated within 24 hours of asking for help and their treatment starts within two weeks.

A new government report says the VA numbers are skewed to make it look like the wait time is shorter.

The clock doesn't start right when a vet asks for help; instead it counts from when the first appointment becomes available.

The vets have to schedule an appointment to be evaluated.

In short, adding weeks or even months to the wait time.

Veterans for Common Sense is actually suing the VA over the delays.

Just last week, the VA said they're bringing in 2,000 more mental health workers to help with delays.
