Police have now identified a body that was found in a wooded area near The Woman’s Club of Newport News on 461 J. Clyde Morris Boulevard. A woman found the body while taking pictures of the foliage in the area police say.
The victim has been identified as Mario Jermaine James, 24, of the 300 block of Hidenwood Drive in Newport News.
Police say he died from a gunshot wound and the gun was found at the scene.
Police are investigating this case as a suspicious death.
