A man accused of stealing $1,300 in coins from Virginia Beach parking meters is headed to jail.
A judge sentenced Christopher Williams to 7 years in prison with all but 4 months suspended.
He also has to pay more than $500 in restitution to the city.
Police say back in June, Williams and another man took the money and deposited it at a Coin Star at a Food Lion.
The grocery store manager thought it was fishy that men wearing parking enforcement uniforms were dumping so many coins into the machine so he called police.
Williams’ codefendant, Mark Apperson, was sentenced in March to two months behind bars. He has already paid $200 in restitution.
