Police have arrested 89-year-old John Boyd. They say he murdered 53-year-old Lionel Phillips.
Phillips was the fiancé of Boyd's caretaker. Police say she was also in the Hines Avenue house last night when the shooting happened.
Investigators say Boyd suffers from dementia. Court records show he retired from the Naval Supply Company.
Though police haven’t said why this shooting happened, Boyd’s arrest warrant says he “deliberately premeditated to kill and murder Phillips.”
Police say there was no indication that there was trouble at the house before.
They have only had two other calls for service, one in April and another in December of last year. And they say none were assault related calls.
Boyd faces two felony charges including first degree murder.
