According to Gary Hildreth, public affairs officer for the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, the Portsmouth Naval Fire Department responded to a report of a fire on board the USS Miami SSN 755 (Nuclear Powered, Los Angeles Class Sub) at 5:41 p.m. Wednesday in Maine.
They say the fire is located in a forward compartment of the ship. The ship’s reactor was not operating at the time and was not affected.
Authorities have been notified.
