Tonight at 11: Skipping the vote

You vote for them. You pay them, and you count on them to take a stand in Richmond.

But some local delegates left Richmond early as a controversial vote loomed last week. That got us thinking. How often do our delegates skip their most basic duty, voting?

What would happen if you just skipped out of work? There was still stuff to do, but it got late, you got tired, so you slipped out and went home. Would you still have a job? That's exactly what some local delegates did— delegates you hired to take a stand, to record their votes.

But instead of sticking around late one night to vote on a historic choice whether to accept or reject a gay prosecutor's nomination for a judgeship, they just went home.

So NewsChannel 3 did some more digging and it turns out some of these delegates who left work early, who didn't take a stand either way, have missed quite a few votes this year.

Tonight at 11, we name names, and roll out their voting records, so you can see if you're getting the work you're paying for. That's tonight at 11.
