(CNN) – Warm weather may be tempting you into a public pool to cool off. But you may want to think twice before diving in. A new survey by the Water Quality and Health Council finds that one in five Americans admits to peeing in public pools.
And nearly 70 percent of people surveyed said they don’t shower before going for a dip. These findings aren’t just gross, though. The council says it can create an unhealthy situation in the pool.
The organization is providing free pool test strips this summer so swimmers can check the pH and chlorine levels before getting in.
